The SpaceWorks mission: to strengthen our community and empower individuals through theatre participation.
SpaceWorks has been a groundbreaking and landmark project for the Space. Since 2009 it has offered an extensive training programme, led by industry professionals. Weekly performance workshops, specialised technical and administrative placements have so far trained members in performance, directing, scriptwriting, lighting design, costume design, stage management, set design, physical comedy, sound design AND arts admin. And we want to do more.

SpaceWorks has three levels – the Space Cadets (7-11 yrs), Space Youth Drama (12-16 yrs) and WorkSpace (adults). Professionals and absolute beginners meet to mentor, support and inspire each other, leading to public showcase performances and full-scale productions.
SpaceWorks has been instrumental in developing the confidence, motivation and employment opportunities for many local residents. We now offer accredited training through the nationally- recognised Arts Awards
SpaceWorks has a pool of experienced actors, directors, designers and facilitators who are passionate about quality community work. Please contact us to arrange bespoke workshops in schools and local community centres.
SpaceWorks is funded through Riverside South planning contributions, distributed by the Isle of Dogs Community Foundation (IDCF), alongside Awards for All, Clore Duffield Performing Arts Awards, the Trusthouse Foundation, the Wakefield and Tetley trust, and the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.
